There are several ferry links to mainland Nova Scotia as well, departing from
Bar Harbour, Maine (1-888-249-7245) or
Portland, Maine (1-800-341-7540) and docking in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Yarmouth is a 3 to 4 hour drive along either Highway 103 or 101 to Halifax. Another ferry operates between
Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia, about 3 hours from Halifax on Highway 101.
VIA Rail - (1-800-561-3952) provides train service to Halifax. The station is located in the south end of Halifax, about two blocks from the Waverley Inn.
